Thringstone litter pickers collected 20 bags of rubbish in the village on Saturday.

The 20-or-so volunteers included seven pupils from Thringstone Primary and others from the local community.

Despite it being a windy and cold day, organisers were delighted with the turnout and the amount of people who wanted to come and pick litter, along with the results of the rubbish collection.

The organisers have also thanked Ruby's Chip Shop for offering free chips to the children - and the community centre for offering refreshments for the adults after the litter pick ended.

Among the items found discarded was half a computer keyboard.

North West Leicestershire District Council posted about the collection on social media and said: "Friends of Thringstone have been doing some great work litter-picking, all part of Keep Britain Tidy.

"Thank you for your hard-work and well done!"
