Three are taken to hospital after car overturns on main Coalville route and road is closed

Three people were taken to hospital after a car overturned on Ashby Road in Coalville.

The incident happened on Saturday afternoon (July 27) - and police say a child was in the vehicle when it crashed.

Reports on social media say one of the occupants of the overturned car was an infant.

It was the only vehicle directly involved in the collision - but another parked car was also damaged at the same time.

The road was closed for around two and a half hours as a result of the collision.

A spokesperson for Leicesterhire Police told Coalville Nub News: "Police were called to Ashby Road in Coalville, on Saturday (27 July) around 4.12pm to a report of a single vehicle collision. 

"The car overturned and damage was caused to a stationary vehicle. 

"Three people were taken to hospital, but injuries were not believed to be life threatening or life changing. 

"Local road closures were in place but re-opened around 6.44pm."
