Teenager hit by police car and taken to hospital in early hours Coalville town centre collision

A teenager was taken to hospital after being hit by a police car in Coalville town centre in the early hours of this morning (Thursday).
Leicestershire Police say officers are investigating the incident.
The collision happened at around 1.45am this morning (Thursday 29 July) in Belvoir Road and involved a marked police vehicle, a Skoda Octavia and a 15-year-old boy.
The boy has been taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment to leg injuries.
He remains in a stable condition and his injuries are not described as life-threatening or life changing.
The two officers in the car were not injured.
A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: "The police vehicle was not travelling in response to an incident and was on routine patrol at the time of the collision.
"Belvoir Road was closed at its junction with Ashby Road to allow for a full examination of the scene.
"It has since been reopened.
"Officers from the force's Professional Standards Department have been informed of the collision.
"We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision or saw either the vehicle or the pedestrian before the collision to contact us.
"Alternatively, anyone who has CCTV or a dashcam camera, which may have captured something related to this incident, is also encouraged to get in touch.
