Some aspects of today's Christmas In Coalville event will change as a result of the bad weather brought in by Storm Bert.

North West Leicestershire District Council has issued an update - and says most of the schedule will go ahead as planned.

But this morning (Saturday) the main stage in Marlborough Square will not go ahead.

Strong winds on the ground mean that it cannot be put up as planned.

A statement from the council says: "The event will be continuing but we are changing some aspects of the event.

"What will be staying the same?

• Lots of stalls to enjoy at Belvoir Shopping Centre

• Walkabout performers will still be entertaining people throughout the day

"What will be changing because of the weather?

• Santa and the inflatable photo snow globe are now moved to the Belvoir Shopping Centre

• Snow globe crafts and face painting will both be moved inside of Newmarket

• Escape room and Axe Throwing have been cancelled

"We will continue to watch the weather and keep you updated if anything else changes

"We still look forward to seeing you for what is still going to be a brilliant day!"
