Slight Increase In New Coronavirus Cases For North West Leicestershire - Latest Figures Show

There has been an increase in cases of Coronavirus in North West Leicestershire over the past 24 hours.

The district has been returning relatively low figures compared to the rest of the county.

But there have been eight new cases recorded, according to figures updated at 4pm today (Tuesday).

New coronavirus cases confirmed today have pushed Leicester's total number of cases close to the 7,000 milestone.

A further 65 cases have been added to the city's overall toll, meaning there have now been 6,993 cases since the start of the pandemic.

Another 45 cases were confirmed across the county – bringing the combined total across Leicester and Leicestershire to 110 new cases.

Fewer than 50 cases were added to tolls yesterday.

Broken down to district and borough area, Charnwood again had the biggest increase in cases at 11, while Blaby added another 10 to its total.

Oadby and Wigston, where local lockdown restrictions remain in place, recorded nine new cases.

Eight new cases were identified in North West Leicestershire, with three people testing positive in Hinckley and Bosworth.

Both Melton and Harborough added two cases to their overall tolls.

The local figures updated at 4pm on Tuesday, September 29 were:

•Leicester – 6,928 total cases. Rate per 100,000 population: 1,974

•Blaby – 797 total cases – Rate per 100,000 population: 785

•Charnwood – 1,187 total cases – Rate per 100,000 population: 638

•Harborough – 541 total cases -. Rate per 100,000 population: 576

•Hinckley and Bosworth – 708 total cases – Rate per 100,000 population: 625

•Melton – 259 total cases – Rate per 100,000 population: 505

•North West Leicestershire – 425 total cases – Rate per 100,000 population: 410

•Oadby and Wigston – 747 total cases – Rate per 100,000 population: 1,310

In other coronavirus news, rules in Leicester and Oadby and Wigston were updated today.

Meanwhile, a landlord says there was nothing he could do to stop hundreds of bikers turning up to a funeral he was hosting at his pub.

Neil Henderson has apologised after he was fined for breaching Covid-19 rules following the mass gathering at The Gate Hangs Well in Syston.

The local figures updated at 4pm on Monday, September 28 were:

•Leicester – 6,928 total cases. Rate per 100,000 population: 1,955

•Blaby – 797 total cases – Rate per 100,000 population: 785

•Charnwood – 1,176 total cases – Rate per 100,000 population: 632

•Harborough – 539 total cases -. Rate per 100,000 population: 574

•Hinckley and Bosworth – 705 total cases – Rate per 100,000 population: 623

•Melton – 257 total cases – Rate per 100,000 population: 502

•North West Leicestershire – 417 total cases – Rate per 100,000 population: 402

•Oadby and Wigston – 738 total cases – Rate per 100,000 population: 1,294
