A second man has been charged in connection with a serious assault in Coalville last month.

Leicestershire Police said today (Monday) that Liam Hurry, 34, of Vaughan Street, Coalville, was charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

He appeared at Leicester Magistrates' Court on Friday (February 9) and is due to appear at Leicester Crown Court on Monday, March 25.

The charge relates to an incident in Needhams Walk on Sunday, January 28.

A 29-year-old man from Ashby has also been charged with causing grievous bodily harm.

Two women aged 35 and 40 who were arrested in connection with the incident have been released with no further action.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said last month that between 2am and 2.30am on January 28, a call was received from the East Midlands Ambulance Service stating a man in his 30s had been found unconscious in Needhams Walk.

He was taken to hospital, where it was established he had suffered a fractured skull and bleed on the brain.
