A runaway Pug cross made a late-night escape from his Coleorton home but was found five hours later...curled up in a patio chair in the front garden.

Sarah Blaney feared for the worst when three-year-old Jug Ronnie - a Pug and Jack Russell crossbreed - snuck out of the house when her partner put out the bins.

But during an early hours trip to the toilet, Sarah spotted her much-loved pet snuggled up in the garden chair.

A relieved Sarah told Coalville Nub News: "My partner Mark put out the bins at about 11pm and we quickly realised that Ronnie had done a runner.

"He'd never made an escape bid before and I was frantic.

"We walked and drove around calling and searching for him - being black I was really worried for his safety at night.

"I was in a right state, I've had him since an eight-week old puppy.

"Eventually we went to bed, but I couldn't sleep."

At 17 weeks pregnant Sarah makes frequent trips to the toilet and at 4am went downstairs to the loo.

"I looked out of the window...and there was Ronnie curled up in one of the rattan patio chairs in the front garden.

"I thought I was seeing things initially, he usually scratches or barks to be let in when he's outside.

"When I opened the door he looked very guilty, he knew he had been a naughty boy.

"I couldn't tell him off though, he looked so cute, I just hugged and kissed him."

Since his disappearing act, runaway Ronnie has been sticking to Sarah like glue.
