The first parcel of land at Hugglescote Grange development in Coalville has been sold to Redrow Homes.

The 250-acre site, on Grange Road, Hugglescote, has an outline consent in place for 2,016 new homes, alongside a primary school, a local community centre and new public area.

Redrow Homes plans to deliver 204 new homes on 16 acres of land at the development, representing the first phase of the project.

Yorkshire-based Land regeneration specialist Harworth Group has sold the first piece of engineered land to Redrow.

Harworth chief executive Owen Michaelson said: "This is a landmark deal for the business, with Redrow now the 16th housebuilder to whom we've sold ready-to-build land, reflecting the continued popularity of our product with national and local customers in the North of England and the Midlands.

"Hugglescote Grange is also one of our six major development sites where ongoing onsite infrastructure and development works have continued despite the Covid-19 pandemic, with the welfare of all staff involved remaining an absolute priority."

The Hugglescote Grange website says: "Harworth Group is delivering a high-quality development comprising approximately 2,000 new homes, a local centre, extensive areas of green open space and community facilities, which will support the new residents.

"A new primary school is intended to be delivered by Harworth Group as part of the wider South East Coalville development.

"Harworth is committed to delivering the entire development via a programme of serviced plot sales to its housebuilding partners.

"Harworth has commenced work on the first phase of their South East Coalville site, known as Hugglescote Grange.

"A new access roundabout off Grange Road and internal roads and services are currently under construction.

"This will open up around 40 acres in four separate parcels, for housing development accommodating approximately 480 new homes.

"An extensive area of landscaping and public open space is to be constructed between the River Sence and the housing."
