Police Uncover £1million Cannabis Farm At Ellistown Business Premises

A cannabis factory found to be growing plants worth over £1million has been uncovered near Ellistown.
North West Leicestershire Police raided the Bardon Hill business premises on Monday and discovered 900 plants.
Inspector Rich Jackson, NPA Commander for North West Leicestershire, says further action is expected on the 'distruption of the local drug market'.
The Ellistown find was revealed on Tuesday morning and Leicestershire Police released more details later.
They said: "Yesterday afternoon (Monday 22 June) police were called to an industrial unit in Walker Road, Bardon Hill, after the owner of the building reported he could not gain access.
"When officers forced entry, they found hundreds of cannabis plants being grown in several different rooms.
"Today, officers from the NPA remain at the industrial unit while the plants are recovered and the investigation continues.
"At the time officers attended the unit, no-one was present and no arrests have been made.
"Sergeant Ryan Ludlam said: 'Our enquiries into the discovery of these plants is continuing today, and officers remain in the area while they are recovered.
"We think there are around 900 plants. The set up inside the unit was sophisticated.
"Tackling the production of drugs is one of our key priorities and we would like to speak to anyone who has information regarding this grow.
"We're particularly keen to speak to anyone who visits or uses the industrial units in Walker Road, and who may have seen someone – or a group of people – acting in a manner that aroused suspicion."

A social media post says: "Officers from the North West Neighbourhood Team have had a busy night after discovering Cannabis plants growing in a business premises near Ellistown yesterday. "There were over 900 plants with a value of over £ 1 million. Inquiries are ongoing." The message was accompanied by the hashtag #notonourpatch #LeicsPolice. Inspector Jackson posted a message on Twitter which reads: "On the back of 27 warrants in the last few weeks, the disruption of the local drugs market continues, this time led by Ps Wilson. More enforcement to follow…"
