Police Looking For Driver Whose Car Ended Up In Ditch And Brought Down Telegraph Pole In Peggs Green

Police want to speak to the driver of a car following a collision with a telegraph pole near Peggs Green early this morning (Tuesday).

The vehicle was found in a ditch but there was no sign of the driver.

But the incident forced the A512 Loughborough Road to be closed.

A spokesman for Leicestershire Police said: "Around 4am on Tuesday, 29 December, officers were called to a road traffic collision on the A512 Loughborough Road near Peggs Green.

"A car was found in a ditch and a telegraph pole was lying across the road.

"No-one was found in the car and there was no evidence or indication of injury. No injuries have been reported.

"Enquiries are ongoing to speak to the driver of the car.

"The road was closed between the Peggs Green roundabout and Lower Moor Road while officers attended the scene.

"The car was recovered and BT engineers attended to move the telegraph pole.The road was reopened around 5.30am."

Police posted about the incident this morning and said: "04:35. Following a police incident on the A512, Coleorton the road is closed between Swannington Roundabout and the turnoff to Coleorton. Updates will follow, but in the meantime please find an alternative route.

"Traffic update at 06:15. The A512 Coleorton is now open from Swannington roundabout to the Coleorton turn off. Thanks for your patience during this."
