Police have found a dog stolen from a village pub earlier last month.

Lola had only given birth to puppies weeks earlier - but she was reunited with her owner and puppies on Tuesday.

But she was taken from the Old Thatched Inn in Stanton Under Bardon on January 29.

The dog's family were understandably distraught at the loss of the Miniature dachshund.

But North West Leicestershire Police posted on Facebook on Tuesday evening that the dog had been found.

No details were given other than saying the dog was called Lola - but social media comments indicated it was the one taken from the pub.

The Police posted: "This afternoon Officers assisted with reuniting a stolen dog with her owner and puppies.

"Lola was taken to a local vets to have her Microchip scanned and this confirmed this was the pup we were looking for.

"Plenty of puppy cuddles for Lola now she's home."
