Police Arrest 19-Year-Old Man After 'Serious Collision' In Coalville Leaves Two In Hospital
A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of driving while being unfit through drink or drugs - and causing serious injury by dangerous driving - after a serious collision in Coalville which left a car overturned.
Leicestershire Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which happened yesterday evening (Wednesday 22 July).
The collision occurred just before 10.55pm on Greenhill Road and involved one vehicle, a red Volkswagen Lupo.
The vehicle was found overturned. Police report that a man and a woman were both taken to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham with serious injuries, where they remain in a serious but stable condition.
The third occupant sustained minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment.
A fourth person, a 19-year-old man, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving while being unfit through drink or drugs and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He has since been released pending further enquiries.
A Police spokesperson said: "Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or saw the vehicle beforehand.
"If you have video recording equipment installed in your vehicles please check the footage and get in touch if you captured anything that may assist with the investigation."
