Leicestershire Police have made an appeal following a following a fatal collision on the M1 close to the junction for Coalville.

Detectives from the force's Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are asking for motorists with dashcams to come forward.

At around 6.45pm yesterday (Tuesday, May 31) emergency services were called to a stretch of the southbound motorway between junctions 22 and 21a, following a report a pedestrian had been struck by a heavy goods vehicle.

Officers attended but the man – who is in his 40s – was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed for several hours while further enquiries were undertaken.

No-one has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Detective Constable Kasie Carter, from the SCIU, said: "While we have spoken to a number of people already, I would ask anyone who saw the collision occur to come forward.

"I'm particularly keen to speak to any motorists with a dashcam in their vehicle or anyone who saw the man prior to the collision.

"Any information you have, no matter how insignificant you think it is, could help."
