Local Police and North West Leicestershire District Council are clamping down on supermarket customers who are not wearing masks.

Morrisons in Coalville was among the stores to get a visit following complaint from customers.

North West Leicestershire Police and a representative from the district council went to Morrisons and Tesco in Ashby.

Last month, Tesco made it a rule that no-one would be admitted to its supermarkets without a mask.

Morrisons and Sainsburys also stopped customers entering without a mask.

But, it seems some people are still shopping without a face covering.

A social media post reads: "Following complaints from members of the public about people not wearing masks whilst shopping, PC Wilcox and Alex from NWLDC Environmental Health team have been working with local supermarkets in supporting them to be as safe as they possible can for shoppers.

"Don't forget it is down to us all to follow the rules and save lives."
