The operator of The Rowans has today (Tues) confirmed there have been Coronavirus-related deaths at the care home.
Yesterday, Coalville Nub News reported that the 54-bed Owen Street care home was coronavirus-free, with this information provided by operator HC-One Two die and five test positive at Parkmanor
But today the company has acknowledged it provided 'incorrect information' and, in a statement, explains that while the care home does not have any cases of coronavirus currently there have been 'a small number of cases and deaths' since the start of the pandemic.
The statement says: "Due to the current exceptional circumstances, and how busy our colleagues are, it meant that we unfortunately passed on incorrect information.
"Due to our company policy, we are unable to give a breakdown of figures at a home level.
"Where figures have been quoted in the media at home level, we have seen the significant pressure this adds to our frontline colleagues, which is something we want avoid so that they can focus on delivering kind, safe care to our residents.
"However, I can confirm there have been a small number of cases and deaths at The Rowans - a contributing factor for some of these deaths was suspected coronavirus.
"The home is now Covid-free – which is why there was an error when we were looking into this originally – and in 'recovery', with the situation having improved significantly.
"Our thoughts and sympathies are with all families who have lost a loved one from coronavirus and we are doing our utmost to support them during this difficult time."
