Man Trapped In Vehicle After Collision With Lamp Post In Coalville

Emergency services have been working to free a man trapped in a vehicle that hit a lamp post in Coalville on Thursday afternoon.

The incident happened on Stephenson Way shortly before 3.30pm.

Two appliances from Coalville were joined by another from Ashby and an ambulance also attended.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service provided regular updates from the scene and said that the man had been freed and taken to Derby Royal Infirmary by ambulance.

The Fire Service released the following information shortly after the incident occurred:  "Road Traffic Collision, one vehicle into lamp post. One person trapped. Ambulance in attendance."

A later update said: "Male casualty immobilised using KED (Kendrick Extrication Device).

"Being assessed by Paramedic.

"Believed to have slight injuries. Extrication still in progress."

A further update at around 4.20pm said: "16.15, One male casualty extricated from vehicle, taken to Derby Royal Infirmary by ambulance. Vehicle being made safe."
