North West Leicestershire Conservatives has challenged MP Andrew Bridgen to speak out after his party leader Laurence Fox was suspended by GB News for making sexist comments about a female journalist.

Mr Fox, leader of the Reclaim Party, was taking part in a programme on the news channel with presenter Dan Wootton, who has also been suspended for not tackling the remarks made about PoliticsJOE reporter Ava Evans.

But NWL Conservatives was quick to take to social media today (Wednesday) to criticise Mr Bridgen for not speaking out against Mr Fox.

Mr Bridgen was thrown out of the Conservative Party in April for a remark on social media which was said to have likened the Government's Covid vaccination campaign to the Holocaust.

The Coalville MP then announced he was joining Mr Fox's Reclaim Party and stand for re-election to the North West Leicestershire constituency at the next General Election.

But NWL Conservatives posted: "It seems The Reclaim Party are making suspension for being highly offensive something of a habit.

"North West Leicestershire is better than this."

Another post added: "Andrew Bridgen's silence on the conduct of his party leader, Laurence Fox, is deafening.

"You can either stand with such gross mysogyny or stand against it."

Mr Bridgen responded by posting: "The hypocrisy of NWL Conservatives is matched only by their cowardice.

"This is the Party that promotes gender ideology in schools, ignores excess deaths, refuses to protect our borders and supports the sexualisation of our children throughout the Parliamentary party."

NWL Conservatives, after pointing out that the MP had incorrectly 'tagged' them in his reply, added: "It's a straightforward question.

"Do you support your leader's mysogyny or not? North West Leicestershire deserves to know."

NWL Conservatives were also involved in an online spat with the Reclaim Party leader in June over gender issues.

The BBC website reports that Mr Fox asked on GB News, what "self-respecting man" would "climb into bed" with Ms Evans.

NWL Conservatives are in the process of naming their candidate to stand in next year's General Election.
