North West Leicestershire Sees More Covid Cases Ahead Of Thursday's Tier Announcement
Another 420 new coronavirus cases have been added to local totals – hours before a decision on what level of restrictions the city and county might face is due to be made.
And North West Leicestershire recorded another 26 cases in the last 24 hours.
Until today (Wednesday), cases had appeared to be slowing in both the city and county with 261 recorded yesterday.
There were 201 new cases added to the city's rolling toll in the past 24 hours and 219 more spread across the county.
More than 40 cases were reported in Charnwood – 43, and Oadby – 41, while more than 30 were added to tolls in Blaby – 38 and Harborough – 35.
North West Leicestershire saw an increase of 26 and a further 25 infections were identified in Hinckley and Bosworth.
Eleven cases were added to Melton's overall total.
The new cases, updated today at 5.30pm, mean that the total number of cases across the city and county since the start of the pandemic area by area are :
