North West Leicestershire Police has a new commander joining team at Coalville

By Graham Hill 13th Sep 2021

North West Leicestershire has a new Neighbourhood Policing Area Commander – Inspector Rich Muldoon.

Insp Muldoon takes over the role from Inspector Rich Jackson who has held the position for the last three and a half years.

Insp Muldoon has worked as a Control Room Inspector for the past three and a half years overseeing the deployment of uniformed officers across the force area.

The role required him to command the more complicated or demanding incidents that need officers to attend and although extremely challenging, he says was always interesting not knowing what you are going to deal with during the shift.

It could be anything from loose livestock on the motorway, through to an aircraft emergency or a high-risk missing person - sometimes all at the same time!

Insp Muldoon said: "I started my policing career 26 years ago in neighbourhood policing and I am very much looking forward to return to this area.

"The team at North West Leicestershire have a first-rate reputation and under the leadership of Inspector Rich Jackson have achieved some real successes.

"I would like to take the opportunity to thank Rich for everything that he has accomplished during his time here and I am excited to be given the chance to hopefully build on all the good work that Rich and the team have already achieved."

Insp Jackson will be joining the city as a Chief Inspector and is leaving behind a role which he has enjoyed.

He said: "During my time at North West Leicestershire, I have worked in partnership to focus on and tackle drugs and county lines issues, which resulted in the execution of around 100 warrants and closure orders in little over 12 months.

"This is an excellent result and represents the close relationship the team has with our partners and the local community."

In wishing Insp. Muldoon luck, he added: "I wish Rich all the best, it's a fantastic role, a great supportive community and an excellent team at Coalville.

"I will be sad to leave but also excited at being given the opportunity of becoming a Chief Inspector."
