The Belper Arms in Newton Burgoland is planning to give away more than 1,000 pints of FREE beer this week.

A post on the pub's Facebook page says it will be handing it out on Tuesday until it has all gone.

The message adds that they plan to re-open with new stock and want to give away their current batch.

But they say you must bring your own container to take the beer away.

The follows another giveaway at The Bull's Head in Coalville on Sunday morning which is under the same ownership.

The Belper Arms is recognised as being the oldest pub in Leicestershire and dates back to 1290.

But it has been closed along with all pubs since the Coronavirus lockdown was brought in last March.

The pub's online post reads: "FREE BEER - TUESDAY EVENING, PLEASE SHARE PEOPLE.

"Tuesday, 16th June, 7pm-9pm we are dispensing all our in-date beer.

"We will be reopening with all new cellar stock and are giving away for FREE well over a thousand pints!

"If you want to take advantage then you MUST bring along CONTAINERS to dispense the beer into and we will fill as many as you can carry.

"We have many keg lagers, ciders and bitters and will be happy to give them all way to our wonderful locals until it has ALL gone!!

"Remember social distancing rules. See you all soon. The Belper Arms".
