A new map and trail has been launched to help residents, foodies and tourists find the best food and drink places to visit in North West Leicestershire.

The 'Taste The Place Taste Adventure' maps are designed to provide handy guides to explore the diverse local offering, including cafes, restaurants, farm shops and producers.

Places in the Coalville area include Mount St Benard Abbey Brewery, Handmade Brownie Company in Newmarket and Cattows Farm in Heather.

It has been developed by Visit Leicester, the Local Visitor Economy Partnership for Leicester and Leicestershire, which has responsibility to promote the city and county to grow the tourism economy and support businesses in the sector.

Trails have also been produced to cover Blaby, Hinckley and Bosworth, Melton, Oadby and Wigston.

Rebecca Henson, head of the growth service at Leicestershire County Council, said: "Leicestershire is the perfect destination for food fans.

"Whether you want to sample world-renowned cheese, craft ale or curry, the county offers a smorgasbord of treats.

"Sampling Leicestershire's best produce has never been simpler with this handy guide, and I'd urge people to add the trails to their summer plans."

Edd de Coverly, the district and borough council representative on the Place Marketing Co-ordination Board, commented: "The richness and diversity of the food and drink offer across our local market towns and villages is incredible, and these guides provide a brilliant opportunity to explore our great places, whilst enjoying some fantastic food and drink along the way."

The trails can be downloaded from the Visit Leicester website or printed copies can be collected from the Visit Leicester Information Centre at the King Richard III Visitor Centre, at 4a St Martins, in Leicester.
