A COALVILLE opticians is celebrating the addition of a newly qualified optometrist to its team to further help customers access eye care more quickly.

Qualifying in January this year, Vithursa Nanthakumar completed her pre-registration in Bishop Auckland and has recently joined the team at Specsavers Coalville.

Vithursa explained: "I'm so proud of myself for completing my pre-reg year.

"It's been great getting to know the team and interact with customers when they visit us in-store.

"Since I've been qualified, I've started to specialise in contact lenses and I'm looking to complete higher qualifications in glaucoma and medical retina so that I can offer more services to our community."

Colleagues at the store, which has recently undergone a refit to create a modern and sleek environment for customers, have welcomed Vithursa with open arms.

Shailan Ruparelia, store director at Specsavers Coalville, said: "Our optometrists are experts in looking after people's vision and managing their eye health, so it's great to have Vithursa on board to strengthen our optical team further.

"It's been brilliant to see her interacting with customers and offering her expertise where needed.
