North West Leicestershire has recorded no new Coronavirus cases since Monday according to daily Department for Health and Social Care figures.

And just 36 positive coronavirus tests have been added to Leicester and Leicestershire's toll since yesterday.

Recent days have seen the tally increasing by up to more than 70 on some days.

Some 31 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus in the city.

Broken down to district and borough council level for the county there were just 5 positive results returned.

Residents in Oadby and Wigston – an area of 'concern' – were yesterday sent text messages urging them to have a test whether they had symptoms or not. Just three positive cases were detected in people living in the area in the 24 hours before 4pm today.

Elsewhere, Charnwood's total was up by one case, as was Harborough.

But North West Leicestershire, Blaby, Hinckley & Bosworth and Melton all recorded no new cases.

The total cases for North West Leicestershire are 318 - the rate per 100,000 population: 311

On Tuesday, Health Secretary Matt Hancock said that two weeks worth of data will be reviewed on Thursday, ahead of a decision being made as to whether the local lockdown needs to remain in place.

Mr Hancock said that more people were being tested in Leicester than anywhere else in the country, largely thanks to it having 14 testing sites – four permanent centres and 10 mobile units.

He told MPs: "I won't pre-judge the decision that we'll take on Thursday and we'll take into account all of the data.

"We won't set out specific thresholds, we'll look at all of the data."

Mr Hancock said both the "level and rate of change" will be looked at with the local authorities.

Today's figures are:

Leicester – 4,35524 total cases. Rate per 100,000 population: 1,226
