A plan to provide accommodation in a village near Coalville for tourists visiting the National Forest is set to be given the go-ahead next week.
The scheme comprises of a woodland, located to the south of Spring Lane and to the south east of Swannington.
The proposal will be discussed by North West Leicestershire District Council planning committee members next Tuesday and permission is expected to be granted.
The application, by Coalville-based company Finney's Park Homes, is for a hybrid planning application for development of the site comprising a full application for the change of use of land for use as a caravan site, and outline application for an associated restaurant/bar/shop.
Councillors will be told: "The submitted planning statement identifies that the applicant's vision is to 'generate more staying visitors in the National Forest by developing woodland holiday accommodation in a
location that would allow cycle and pedestrian access to nearby settlements and the wider National Forest'. "Access is proposed from Spring Lane via an existing junction. "Two bodies of water to the north of the site have been used as fishing lakes and whilst they are proposed to be retained, the existing use for fishing would cease. "The application proposes the erection of 20 larger units providing two double bedrooms, ensuite, bathroom, kitchen and dining and living area, together with decking and hot tubs, and 32 smaller static units providing one double and one single bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living area, with decking."
However, over 230 objections have been raised about the scheme - including those of both Swannington and Whitwick Parish Councils.
