Motorcyclist, 72, dies after collision in Whitwick - Leicestershire Police make appeal for witnesses

A motorcyclist died in a collision in Whitwick yesterday afternoon (Sunday).

Leicestershire Police are appealing for public help following the incident which involved a 72-year-old man.

The rider was found injured in Oaks Road around 3.50pm by a passer-by.

Emergency services attended the scene where he was pronounced deceased.

A Leicestershire Police spokesperson added: "From initial enquiries it's believed the 72-year-old rider was travelling on his black Yamaha XVS motorcycle along Oaks Road towards Copt Oak when his vehicle left the road and collided with a wall.

"Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or saw the motorcycle beforehand.

"They would also urge anyone who was travelling in the area to check any video recording equipment they have installed in their vehicles for any footage they may have captured.

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 136 Adam Wilson on 101 or HERE, quoting incident number 443 of 14 August.
