The mini golf facility at Hermitage Leisure Centre is opening this weekend for the first time in four years.

Thanks to North West Leicestershire District Council's Wellbeing, Events and Parks teams, Meadow Barn View Skills Centre and local young people, the course will be open as part of a Fizzicle Fun in the Sun event this Sunday, July 4, between 2-5pm.

Built in the 1990s and designed by a 'mini golf champion', it entertained families for years until it closed during 2018.

"It's been a real collective effort to make this opportunity happen - and we hope it's just the start," said Deana Wildgoose, of Coalville C.A.N.

"It's such a great little facility, that could entertain and be used by so many people. It's a fabulous setting."

"Local young volunteers, alongside young people on the Kickstart scheme and workmates from Meadow Barn View, are planning to tidy the place up on Thursday ready for the opening.

"There are still plenty of things that can be done to improve it, but it works, and it's fun!"

Jess Bilson from Meadow Barn View added: "We are looking for opportunities for our work mates to do meaningful activities and get involved in serving the Community.

"Our workmates are excited about opening up this facility and hope to make it into more regular activity, for other groups".

As well as the mini-golf there will be Bouncy Days, a free multi-sport session hosted by North West Leicestershire District Council and ice creams!

Everyone is welcome, there is a small charge for some of the activities.

Covid safety measures will be in place, so there will be hand sanitiser available and people will be expected to sign in and observe the distancing guidelines.
