A man died after his car was involved in a collision in Stanton Under Bardon in the early hours of last Friday morning.

Detectives from Leicestershire Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are asking for information following the fatal incident in Ellistown Lane.

The collision, involving a single vehicle – a silver Ford Fiesta – was travelling towards Stanton Under Bardon at just after 3am.

The only occupant of the car, a 38-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene by East Midlands Ambulance Service.

Officers are asking for anyone who was in the area around the time of the collision to check their dash cams.

Detective Inspector Steve Kilsby from SCIU is leading the investigation. He said: "Where this collision happened in is a narrow country lane.

"But if there was anyone in the area that saw this car in the minutes before this collision, I'd be interested in hearing from you, and seeing any footage from a dashcam you may have.

"Anyone who lives on the surrounding roads and who may have CCTV – equally, I'd like you to get in touch.

"We have been at the scene since the initial call at 3.06am this morning and carrying out investigations."

You can contact Leicestershire Police via the force website HERE or by calling 101 quoting incident number 60 of 7 April.
