A man was taken to hospital after an assault in Coalville yesterday afternoon (Sunday).

Police and the ambulance service were called to the incident in Oakham Drive.

But a spokesman for Leicestershire Police that an investigation into the incident was still being carried out.

He said: "Shortly before 3.20pm, a call was received from the East Midlands Ambulance Service stating that a man had been assaulted at a block of flats in Oakham Drive, Coalville.

"Officers attended and the man was taken to hospital.

"Enquiries into the incident are continuing and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference 21*604647."
