A man in his 70s was robbed in Coalville as he withdrew a 'large quantity' of money from a cash machine.

Detectives are now appealing for witnesses to the incident to make contact.

It happened last Friday morning, around 8.15am, at the junction of Belvoir Road and Jackson Street.

The man was not injured, but he was left shaken up by the incident.

Leicestershire Police say he was pushed over by a man – believed to be aged between 25 and 30 – who took a large quantity of cash and ran off down Belvoir Road.

Detective Constable Steve Williams, the investigating officer, said: "This happened at the junction of two busy roads at a time when people will have been going to work or school.

"Therefore I'm sure there will have been people who saw what happened.

"If you witnessed anything, then please get in touch.

"I'd also like to speak to anyone driving in the area with a dashcam in their vehicle or who has CCTV footage of the area.

"Any information you can provide, no matter how insignificant you think it is, could help."
