Man in 80s in hospital with 'possible life changing injuries' after motorbike hits group of pedestrians in Coalville
A motorbike collided with three pedestrians in Coalville this morning (Saturday) - leaving a man in his 80s with what have been described as 'possible life changing injuries'.
The incident happened in London Road - to Oxford Road and Whitwick Road - at 11.15am
Police closed the road and East Midlands Ambulance Service were called to the scene.
Of the three pedestrians involved, two were taken to hospital - including the man in his 80s.
A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: "At 11.15am today (August 20), police were called to a report of a collision involving a motorbike and three pedestrians in London Road, Coalville.
"Officers attended, along with the East Midlands Ambulance Service
"Two of the pedestrians have been taken to hospital – one, who is a man in his 80s, has possible life changing injuries.
"The motorcyclist has also been taken to hospital as a precaution.
"The road remains closed while the incident is dealt with.
"Anyone with information can call 101, quoting incident number 239 of 20 August."
Police warned people to avoid the area shortly after the incident when the posted on social media and said: "London Road COALVILLE - closed between OXFORD street and Whitwick Road. Due to RTC. Please avoid the area. Updates to follow."
