An arrest has been made after a man in his 40s died following a fatal collision in Bagworth.

Police were called to Barlestone Road, close to the junction with Bagworth Road near Coalville, shortly before midnight.

It was reported that a silver Ford EcoSport ST-Line had overturned.

One of the occupants was treated at the scene, but was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving a motor vehicle when alcohol level was above the limit. He has since been released under investigation.

The road was closed for several hours but has since reopened.

Officers from the Serious Collision Unit (SCIU) are now appealing for any motorists with dashcam footage to get in touch.

They would also like to speak to any motorists who witnessed the collision or saw the car beforehand.
