A man has denied murder after a man was found fatally injured in a park in Hugglescote.

David Bettison, 43, was pronounced dead in the park off Ashburton Road, shortly after 2am on February 24.

The BBC reports that, at Leicester Crown Court, Kyle Morley, 29, pleaded not guilty to his murder and the attempted murder of a woman who was found with serious injuries at the scene.

Morley, of Ashby Road, Coalville, is due to stand trial at the same court on 30 October.

Mr Bettison's family described him as a 'beloved son, brother, dad, partner and friend'.

In a statement released at the time, his family said: "Everybody loved Did. He leaves a huge hole in our lives and no words can describe the heartache and endless cycle of disbelief we are trapped in.

"He was our beloved son, brother, dad, partner and friend. To never see his twinkling blue eyes, big grin and gait as he walked, will mean our lives will never be the same again."
