Man Arrested on Suspicion Of GBH After Report Of Whitwick Assault That Left Victim In Hospital

A 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm after a reported assault in Whitwick on this afternoon (Wednesday).

Police were called to a property in Silver Street shortly after 4pm.

Leicestershire Police report that, when officers arrived, they found the victim - a man in his 40s – had suffered injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police have confirmed that the injured man was not stabbed.

He has been taken to hospital for treatment.

No other injuries were reported.

One onlooker described a series of police cars racing to the scene of the crime.

The arrested man remains in custody and officers were carring out enquiries in the area of Silver Street afterwards.
