Man, 24, is charged after crashing car in Coalville during police chase from Loughborough

A driver from Loughborough has been charged with a series of offences after being involved in a collision in Coalville while being pursued by police officers.

Jamie Taylor, 24, of Willow Road, was arrested on Wednesday evening after colliding with another vehicle near Stephenson Way in Coalville.

He was taken into custody and has now been charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop and driving while disqualified.

The man was due to appear before Leicester Magistrates today (Friday).

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: "At around 5.45pm on Wednesday, February 21, officers noticed a car that was believed to be on cloned plates in Nanpantan Road, Loughborough.

"A request was made for the driver to stop, but the driver failed to do so. A pursuit was authorised.

"The car - a Ford Fiesta - subsequently collided with another vehicle near Stephenson Way in Coalville. 

"No serious injuries were reported.

"A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop a mechanically propelled vehicle when required by a constable/traffic warden."
