An 18-year-old man has been arrested following a report of a serious sexual assault in Donington le Heath last weekend.

Police were made aware of the alleged incident shortly after 6am on Sunday (May 5).

Officers then cordoned off the area around Manor Road while enquiries were conducted.

A teenaged man was then arrested in connection with the reported incident.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police told Coalville Nub News: "Shortly before 6.20am on Sunday (May 5), a report was received from a third-party, stating a woman had been subjected to a serious sexual assault in an area off Manor Road in Donington le Heath.

"The woman was safeguarded by police and following further enquiries, an 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.

"He has since been released on bail and the investigation is continuing."
