PLANS for a 66-bed care home for older people - to be sited off Standard Hill - have been submitted to North West Leicestershire District Council.

Leeds-based LNT Construction says it will deliver the proposed development if planning permission is granted - while the applicant is LNT Care Developments - with a construction target of 16 months.

A planning statement with the application says the development will be on a 'a currently vacant grassland plot'.

But it will be adjacent to a 400-home development off Standard Hill and West of Highfield Street.

The statement says: "We are a renowned care home developer who provide a high-quality, caring environment, designed to promote independence and an excellent quality of life for residents.

"All of our care homes are developed to be fit-for-purpose and future proofed to the benefit of residents' well-being.

"The proposed development will be situated within a wider residential plot within close vicinity to desirable amenities and infrastructure.

"The proposed care home would be a purpose-built 66-bed residential care facility for older people. We have developed in excess 235 care homes specifically for the care of older people across England since 2005.

"The proposals will allow the site to make an important contribution towards an identified need for new care accommodation and provide general residential and dementia care. It will be made available for local people in need of care and staffed by local people, in a highly appropriate, sustainable and accessible location.

"The proposed development is intended to be delivered and ready for occupation within 16 months of any planning permission being granted."

A cover letter with the application adds the care home would also assist in the delivery of a more sustainable and inclusive community in Coalville.

It adds: "Residents and employees are expected to emanate from the local area, typically within a three-mile radius of the site, which ensures the local community benefit first from the development."
