Latest North West Leicestershire Covid Case Figures On The Day Region Was Placed Into Tier Three

There were 29 new cases recorded in North West Leicestershire over the past 24 hours.

It brings the district's total since the start of the pandemic to 2,216.

New coronavirus cases have increased across the city and county again – but the rise is smaller than yesterday's.

It was confirmed today (Thursday) that both Leicester and Leicestershire will be subject to Tier 3 restrictions when the current national lockdown ends on December 2, in order to move to a lower alert level, cases will be one of the things that needs to drop.

Of a total of 387 new infections added to overall tolls in the past 24 hours, 182 were in Leicester, while the remaining 205 cases were spread across the county.

Oadby and Wigston added another 41 cases, while there 39 new cases in Blaby and 34 in Charnwood.

There were 29 cases in North West Leicestershire, 27 in Harborough, 19 in Hinckley and Bosworth and 16 in Melton.

The new cases, updated today at 4pm, mean that the total number of cases across the city and county since the start of the pandemic area by area are :

•Leicester: 17,042

•Blaby: 2,988

•Charnwood: 6,172

•Harborough: 1,962

•Hinckley and Bosworth: 2,437

•Melton: 1,075

•North West Leicestershire: 2,216

•Oadby and Wigston: 2,365

In other coronavirus news, Leicester and Leicestershire is reacting to the news that both the city and county are in Tier 3 – the highest level of restrictions.

The boss of Leicester's hospitals has praised staff as she revealed that the local NHS is now 'absolutely in the second wave'.

The latest seven-day infection rates, area by area, are:

•Leicester: 400 cases per 100,000

•Blaby: 342.8 cases per 100,000

•Charnwood: 238.4 cases per 100,000

•Harborough: 284.6 cases per 100,000

•Hinckley and Bosworth: 242.2 cases per 100,000

•Melton: 269.5 cases per 100,000

•North West Leicestershire: 287.6 cases per 100,000

•Oadby and Wigston: 422.7 cases per 100,000

Daily increases so far this week:

•Wednesday, November 25: 420

•Tuesday, November 24: 261

•Monday, November 23: 389

•Sunday, November 22: 443
