Ibstock man, 43, is charged with drug production after police uncover 300-plant cannabis grow

An Ibstock man has been charged with the production of the Class B drug after a police raid discovered 300 cannabis plants.

North West Leicestershire Police posted on social media last Friday that a 'large scale cannabis grow' had been found by officers at an Ibstock premises.

Officers forced their way into a property in High Street and arrested the 43-year-old man.

The police posted: "You said, we did. From information provided by members of the public, officers have forced entry into a premises in Ibstock and have discovered a large scale cannabis grow.

"One male in custody and approximately 300 plants seized."

Leicestershire Police have confirmed that Albert Sharka, 43, of High Street, Ibstock, has been charged with being concerned in the production of a Class B drug,

A police spokesperson told Coalville Nub News that: "He appeared before Leicester Magistrates' Court on Saturday, September 23. 

"The charge relates to an incident at a premises in High Street, Ibstock, on Friday, September 22."

The magistrates hearing was preliminary and the case will now go to Leicester Crown Court on October 30.

But the defendant is to be held in custody until that date.
