Ibstock Brick Brass Band has achieved a remarkable milestone by winning at the Midland Area Championships at the weekend.

They competed against 14 other bands to top the third section.

The competition, held at Bedworth Civic Hall, brought together some of the best brass bands from across the Midlands.

Their commitment to excellence and teamwork was evident as they performed with precision and passion, earning them the top spot in the championship.

This victory means the band can look forward to a trip to the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain in Cheltenham in September.

Jon Penton, Musical Director said: "I have very much enjoyed working with the band, their teamwork and positivity is to be admired, alongside a healthy sense of humour.

"This year's set work 'Arkansas' has been a pleasure to rehearse, with its folk melody, emotion, and rhythmic drive to finish - it is accessible to players and audiences alike.

"The band have risen to the challenge, embracing games and exercises for individual and ensemble technique and focusing on multiple layers of detail to bring the music alive.

"The band's winning performance was the result of their dedication, consistency, and control. Well done, all."

The band has been a vital part of the Ibstock community since 1971 starting out as the Coalville Band.

In 1977, they became a charity and sponsorship from Ibstock Building Products secured the band's future, as well as them becoming known as Ibstock Brick Brass.

They have been a cornerstone of the local community ever since. With a focus on fostering musical talent and providing quality entertainment, the band participates in various contests and engagements throughout the year.

The band will now start fundraising for their trip to Cheltenham.
