A Hugglescote housebuilder has welcomed a county school for an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour at its development near Coalville.

Redrow East Midlands invited a group of students from Foxfields Academy along to Hugglescote Grange, on Grange Road, for in insightful workshop, sharing information about a career in the construction industry.

Foxfields Academy is a specialist all-through school for pupils aged 5-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

A mix of year seven, eight and nine students were given a grand tour of the development, giving them look at life on a construction site, as well as a sneak peek at the homes currently being built.

The students also had the opportunity to chat to team members, trainees and apprentices, where they could ask questions about working at Redrow.

Ashley Caress, Headteacher at Foxfields Academy, said: "The students had a wonderful time visiting Hugglescote Grange and getting the VIP treatment.

"It was a great opportunity to learn more about the construction sector and give the students an insight into how new homes are built."

Jeremy Davis, Area Construction Manager, at Redrow East Midlands, added: "We had a wonderful time welcoming students from Foxfields Academy to our Hugglescote Grange development.

"As part of our continued efforts towards valuing people, we're always thrilled to invite local students along for an exciting behind-the-scenes look.

"It's so important to help young people understand that, whether their favourite subject is maths or art, there are so many opportunities in housebuilding.

"Here at Redrow East Midlands, we offer a range of opportunities, from graduate programmes to apprenticeships.

"It was fantastic to meet the pupils and, on behalf of the whole team, I'd like to extend a huge thank you to Foxfields Academy for attending.

"We look forward to seeing them flourish!"

The meeting follows the success of Redrow East Midlands' ongoing apprenticeship scheme, which has been running since 2017.

The programme, which will see the division take on six apprentices in 2023, gives students in the local area an opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop a career in housebuilding.
