Green fingered residents across Coalville and North West Leicestershire are reminded to use the additional garden waste service
Gardeners across Coalville and North West Leicestershire are being reminded to sign up to or renew their extra garden waste subscriptions.
North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC) introduced the additional garden waste service in 2022 to provide a consistent garden waste collection service, allowing all residents to benefit from one free collection each fortnight.
More than 1,000 green-fingered residents signed up to the additional garden waste service in its first year, and now is the time to renew.
All households in the district continue to get one free garden bin collected each fortnight.
Residents looking to use more than one bin are asked to join the service and pay for each additional bin.
The charge for 2023-24 is £45 per extra bin. The annual subscription covers the fortnightly emptying of an extra garden waste bin from 1 June 2023 to 31 May 2024.
While residents can sign up to the service at any point during the year, NWLDC is encouraging residents to do so before 7 May to ensure they receive their bin sticker before the service starts.
Households who sign up for the service, which runs until 31 May 2024, are provided with a sticker for each additional garden bin.

Paul Sanders, Head of Community Services at NWLDC said: "If you signed up to the additional garden waste service when it was introduced last year, now is a great time to renew for the next subscription year, starting on 1 June.
"We've already had a lot of interest in the scheme, keeping the price the same as last year to give residents the best value for money.
"All the garden waste collected across the district is taken to a composting facility in Lount, where it is turned into compost for use on crops."
