Plans for a new combined restaurant and takeaway in Coalville have been given the go-ahead by North West Leicestershire District Council.

An application for a change of use from a hair salon in Belvoir Road has been granted.

A report prepared by officers addresses one objection on the grounds of another hot food outlet coming to the town.

It says: "Whilst concerns relating to the provision of a further takeaway in this location has been raised by a member of the public during the consultation period, it is noted that the proposal is for a restaurant and takeaway facility and that the application site is not located within the Primary Shopping Area and therefore no assessment of the application is required."

The report continues: "The Council's Environmental Protection Team have been consulted on the application and have requested that the applicant provide details of the ventilation and extraction system proposed,

including the location of the system, the noise levels omitted from this unit and the steps which would be taken to reduce this noise.

"Clarification has also been requested in relation to the first floor flat and whether this would form part of the application.

"It has been confirmed that the application relates to the ground floor of the building only and does not affect the existing residential use at first floor level.

"The agent for the application has also submitted information relating to the proposed extraction unit, to include elevations, and a noise report which includes recommendations and mitigation measures.

"In terms of disturbance, the opening hours for the proposed use would be 16:00 - 23:00 Mondays to Sundays.

"These hours are considered to be later than that of the previous hair salon use and the proposal would also result in more comings and goings from the premises in the evening time.

"However, the proposed opening times are not considered to be inconsistent with the opening hours of the nearby Sun Hing Chinese takeaway which is advertised as being open between the hours of 14:00pm and 23:00pm throughout the week, including Saturdays and Sundays.

"The principle of the development is acceptable. In the case of this application the proposal is not considered to have any significant detrimental design, residential amenity or highway safety or parking related impacts."
