Four people have been arrested after a man was seriously assaulted in Coalville yesterday evening (Sunday).

Shortly before 9.30pm on Sunday (24 October) officers were called to Garendon Road, on the Greenhill Estate, following a report that a man had been attacked.

On arrival the victim – a 20-year-old man – was found in the street.

He was taken to hospital, where he remains in a serious condition with head injuries.

Following enquiries within the local area, three men aged 42, 21 and 18 and an 18-year-old woman were arrested in connection with the incident.

They have since been released on bail.

Officers from Leicestershire Police are carrying out further enquiries in and around Garendon Road today and the road was cordoned off.

Detective Sergeant Jenny Tattersall, from the Complex Investigation Team (CIT) said: "While four people have been arrested, we are still trying to establish how the victim came about his injuries.

"I would therefore like to speak to anyone who saw or heard what happened last night and would urge them to contact police.

"Any information you have could help our investigation.

"I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who has CCTV or a doorbell camera at their address, as this could assist us further.

"Likewise, I would like to speak to anyone driving in the area at the time who has a dashcam in their vehicle."
