A Coalville food bank has received a £2,000 donation from the Amazon fulfilment centre in the town.

Feed the Need Coalville is a volunteer-run, independent food bank which provides over 100 food parcels a week for around 200 people in Coalville.

The donation from Amazon will go towards the purchase of the food and essentials that the charity hand out every week, including toiletries, nappies and long-life food.

Tracey Foster, General Manager at Amazon in Coalville, said: "Feed the Need Coalville helps hundreds of people in the community, and we're pleased to help the charity's efforts with this donation."

Paula Mueller from Amazon in Coalville nominated the charity for a donation.

She added: "I live in Coalville, and I know how important Feed the Need Coalville is for people in our community.

"I'm glad Amazon is supporting the charity, and I hope these funds help its team reach more people who need some extra help."

Sarah Holey from Feed the Need Coalville said: "Thank you to the team at Amazon Coalville for this donation.

"As a team of volunteers relying on donations, support like this is hugely appreciated."

Feed the Need Coalville received the donation as part of Amazon's programme to support communities in and around its operating locations throughout the UK.

Amazon is providing disadvantaged students with online STEM courses as well as teaming up with charity partner Magic Breakfast and delivering more than six million healthy breakfasts to families across England.
