Fishers solicitors in Ashby will be taking part in two major fundraising events in aid of this year's chosen charities.

The Ivanhoe Office Park-based law firm is supporting Burton YMCA and the MSA Trust.

The YMCA offers a range of support to those who are homeless in East Staffordshire and has a food bank that can be accessed by anyone.

The MSA Trust was nominated by staff as a charity close to their heart.

It is a small but national charity which supports individuals with Multiple System Atrophy, along with their families.

This neurological condition is very rare and unfortunately, there is no cure.

It is part of the Parkinson's and Motor Neurone family, but 45 times rarer, affecting five in every 100,000. The charity provides specialist nurses who support individuals in managing symptoms.

Fishers is planning to take part in two events to raise money. Firstly, a team will join the YMCA sponsored sleep at the start of November, at Burton Albion Football Club's Pirelli Stadium.

Those taking part can bring blankets and pillows, plus items such as books and games, and they will be given a cardboard box to sleep in along with one hot drink/cuppa soup.

The idea is to experience what it is like to sleep rough.

As well as that, there will be a Walk 1,268 Miles As A Team event.

Using an app, a Fishers team will be set up to collect individual step counts over a set period, collectively walking the distance between all the key locations of the MSA Trust which is the equivalent distance from London to Rome.

Fishers will also be encouraging other ways to help such as donations of food and accommodation items needed by the YMCA.

A Fishers spokesperson said: "We will be placing a box in the breakout area for donations to the food bank and accommodation items needed by the YMCA, which has provided a list of specific items".
