A living snow globe is set to be the main attraction to bring cheer to families as Christmas in Coalville returns.
Winter wonderland is coming to Coalville as an interactive snow globe is confirmed to take the spotlight in the town on Saturday, November 26.
The magical Christmas act will encompass a winter scene with a performer to bring childhood memories of snow globes to life.
Santa and reindeer, funfair rides and festive stalls will also form part of North West Leicestershire District Council's (NWLDC) itinerary to kick off this year's festive season.
Throughout the day, walkabout entertainers from Fool's Paradise will be spreading good cheer and performances will take place from Coalville school choirs and the Leicestershire Co-op band.
Families can join in the free Christmas activities at various locations across Coalville, including the Belvoir Shopping Centre, Needham's Walk car park, Newmarket and Marlborough Square from 10am until 5pm.
During the festive fun, the Christmas lights will automatically be turned on to light up the town centre in the afternoon.
Councillor, Tony Gillard, Portfolio Holder for Business at NWLDC, said: "We're excited to announce that Christmas in Coalville is back for 2022.
"This year, we're trying something new with the addition of the living snow globe and we're expecting it to be a bit more magical for families to mark the start of the festive period.
"All the attractions are free, and everyone is welcome to join us so come down, support local businesses and enjoy getting into the Christmas spirit."
The council's Cabinet confirmed on November 8 that fireworks would not be used at this year's event following recommendations from the Coalville Special Expenses Committee.
