A pair of pupils from Coalville are saddling up before Christmas after winning a festive design competition.

The youngsters joined 193 of their classmates from Warren Hills Primary School to design a festive card for the Safer North West Leicestershire Partnership.

Eliko (8) and Grace (6) were presented with brand-new bikes at their final assembly of the term after having their designs chosen as the best.

Both will now see their winning cards printed and distributed across the district.

Runners up, Faith (9) and Harry (6), each received a family pass for Conkers, while all of the budding artists were also presented with a selection box to take home.

Officers from Leicestershire Police chose the two winning designs to feature on the police's Christmas card lists.

Councillor Andrew Woodman, Chair of the Safer North West Leicestershire Partnership, said: "Designing a Christmas Card for the safety partnership is not only a great thing for students to do in the run up to Christmas, but helps us to share Christmas safety messages for the nearly 200 children who took part.

"Thank you to everyone supporting this work, which brings joy and good cheer to the classroom."
