Ey Up M'Duck: Storm Dennis Rains Force Thringstone Miners Welfare To Cancel Weekend Games

By Graham Hill

Thringstone Miners Welfare Football Club saw the funny side when Storm Dennis hit their weekend matches.

They announced on their Facebook page that all games have been called off this weekend at their Homestead Road due to a waterlogged pitch.

And they illustrated the fact by proving the weather was more suitable for ducks than footballers.

The North Leicestershire League side posted a picture of two rubber toys floating on the pitch - such was the amount of water that had forced games to be called off.

Storm Dennis hit the area on Saturday bringing heavy rain and strong winds.
