Christmas has come early for two Coalville primary school children who have won a festive design competition.

The pair joined 190 classmates from Warren Hills Primary School, Coalville, to design a Christmas card for the North West Leicestershire Community Safety Partnership (NWLCSP).

Matty (aged 5) and Tazmine (9) were presented with brand-new bikes at an assembly this week after their designs were chosen.

Both will now see their cards printed and distributed across the district.

Fellow students Reggie (7) and Maggie (9) were runners-up and each given a family pass for Conkers, with all the school's students also presented with a selection box to take home.

Officers from Leicestershire Police and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue chose the two winning designs to feature on the police's naughty and nice Christmas card lists.

Those on the nice list will receive a thank you card.

While suspected criminals on the naughty list will receive a card reminding them to behave over the festive season.

Councillor Andrew Woodman, Chair of the Community Safety Partnership, said: "I was delighted to be able to present the winners and runners up with their prizes.

"We've held this competition for a number of years and students always produce great designs so I know the judging panel had a hard task to choose only two cards."

Inspector Rich Muldoon, North West Leicestershire NPA Commander, said: "It was fantastic to see some great designs for the cards entered into the competition.

"Thank you to all the pupils at Warren Hills for their amazing efforts and many congratulations to Matty, Tazmine, Reggie and Maggie.

"We wish everyone in our local communities a safe and happy Christmas!"
