Domino's Pizza - with a takeaway in Coalville - has issued an important warning to anyone who has bought pizza from its restaurants recently.

In an email sent to customers today (Monday), a spokesperson for the national chain urged people to dispose of any dips due to a health risk.

The Mirror reports that the message says: "At Domino's Pizza, the quality of our products and the safety of our customers is the highest priority, particularly when it comes to allergens. 

"We have become aware that some of our Garlic and Herb dip and Honey and Mustard dip may contain traces of peanut."

The company confirmed that the issue 'may impact' the 100g 'Big Dip' pots and the smaller 25g pots provided with every pizza. 

But the warning added: "If you do have a peanut allergy, please dispose of the dips and do not consume them.

"If you DO NOT have a peanut allergy, no further action is required. We are sorry for any concern and inconvenience this issue may cause.

"If you have any questions related to this issue, contact Dominos via its website."

The publication adds that, according to the NHS, a food allergy is where your body reacts to certain foods. It is often mild, but can be very serious for some people.

A food allergy occurs when your immune system reacts excessively to specific foods and causes the body to react. 

Some foods are known to trigger allergic responses in certain individuals more than others.

It is possible to have an allergy to any food, such as celery, mustard, sesame seeds, and lupin flour, which is often present in certain baked products. 

As well as the takeaway in Marlborough Square, Coalville, Domino's also has branches in Swadlincote and Ashby.
